mcix access provides service providers with a single point-to-point or point-to-multipoint VLAN across the mcix network. It is ideal for customers wishing to establish a point of presence in one of the data centres in which they do not currently maintain a presence.

mcix access can also be combined with mcix trunk as a means of delivering service to customers in remote sites. By taking a single mcix trunk port in the service providers 'home' data centre and multiple access ports in remote data centre(s) the service provider is able to provide services to customers in remote data centres without the need to maintain active equipment in multiple data centres.
