Who owns mcix?
mcix is owned and operated by Internet Facilitators Limited, the leading
provider of colocation services in Manchester. Internet Facilitators established
mcix to enable customers to make connections between its two Manchester
data centres. It quickly became apparent that there was significent demand
amongst the service provider community for connections between Internet
Facilitators' data centres and TeleCity Manchester. The network was expanded
to accommodate this in March 2005. For more information about Internet
Facilitators visit their website: http://www.internetf.co.uk/

Why should I connect to mcix?
mcix is the only network that enables service providers to make connections
between the three carrier neutral data centres in Manchester. Connections
are available at speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second. The flexible nature
of mcix services makes the network ideal for distributing transit or wholesale
DSL or for connecting to the public peering VLAN.

I want to peer in Manchester - why should I use mcix?
Public peering over mcix enables service providers to interconnect with
other users of the mcix network. By adding a VLAN to an existing trunk
port or taking a dedicated access port public peering is available at
a very low cost. As part of its commitment to helping service providers
10% of the revenue generated from ports with access to the public peering
vlan is made available to the mcix peering community in order to facilitate
the provision of shared services and user group meetings.

Do you offer an SLA?
The mcix terms and conditions detail our commitment to maintain an availability
of 99.9% across our network. We believe that the level of most SLA compensation
is inadequate to make up for the disruption caused by loss of service
and for this reason we would rather focus our efforts on ensuring the
network remains available at all times. We have arrangements in place
with our suppliers to guarantee a maximum four hour response to any problems.
Performance statistics for our network are published on our website at
http://www.mcix.co.uk/peformance.php so
you are free to make your own decision based on our performance rather
than a promise.

Do you resell transit or other telecommunication services?
No. Internet Facilitators Limited who own and operate the mcix network
have always been and will remain independant of internet and telecommunications
service providers. The mcix network enables service providers to reach
customers regardless of which data centre they are present in.

How long does it take to get connected?
Our target is to configure all customer ports within 48 hours. You will
of course need to arrange cabling into our network cabinets, and agree
to our network terms and conditions.

Is the traffic I pass over my port(s) limited?
The only limit is that of the physical interface. We do however recommend that if you reach 65% of your port capacity you upgrade. Because all of our ports are copper this can be done with the minimum of disruption.

Is my data secure?
Whichever service you use all of your data is contained within your own
VLAN(s) and is completely private and segregated from other customer traffic.
In addition if you use the mcix tunnel service you can pass your own VLANs
across our network and maintain the security of each of your customers'
data.
