mcix trunk enables service providers access multiple services from a
single port or alternatively to provide services to multiple customers
from a single port.
Service providers can connect their router to a trunk port and configure
virtual router interfaces to tag packets entering the mcix network. By
doing so the service provider can, for example, connect to the mcix public
peering VLAN and establish a point-to-point connection using the same
physical interface.
Used in combination with multiple mcix access ports (customer ports)
the service provider can reach multiple customers located in remote data
centres without the need to locate equipment in those data centres.
